Fashion is a fickle thing – one day you’re turning heads in some retro-inspired high-waisted pleated trousers, the next you look about as stylish as Simon Cowell circa 2010. But style? That’s forever. So, what’s a gent to do if he isn’t quite sure what his style is?

Now, while it is true that no man is the same, our many, many years of combined experience in this business has taught us that chaps tend to fall into one of three distinct categories. Once you figure out which of these you belong to, getting dressed becomes so much easier.

If you’re unsure about which camp you fall into, our expertly formulated quiz will give you some much-needed answers. Simply answer the questions below, and we’ll reveal your ultimate style persona.

Question 1: Are you more drawn to neutral tones, vibrant colours or patterns?

1. Neutral is timeless. Your perfect wardrobe consists of varying shades of navy, charcoal, black and beige. Now and then you might welcome a muted pop of colour, say burgundy or forest green, but nothing too flashy. 1. You’re a traditionalist at heart and firmly believe there is a reason luxurious fabrics like superfine wool and cashmere have stood the test of time. Simply put, they are unsurpassable. Practical, durable and endlessly versatile, they deliver sophistication without feeling outdated. And really, can anything compare to the soft caress of cashmere? Why fix what isn’t broken?
2. You’re a man with one foot in the present and one in the future, gravitating toward modern interpretations of classic materials. Eco-friendly options like recycled polyester and organic cotton pique your interest, too – they’re stylish and socially conscious.
3. Miss another opportunity to stand out? Never. You’re always on the hunt for something unique. You’re intrigued by unique textures like mohair and like to create interest by using unexpected fabric combinations, say, a black tuxedo in velvet.

Question 3: Do you gravitate toward structured sharp lines or softer silhouettes?

1. Frankly, soft equals sloppy. Structured tailoring is a non-negotiable in your book. It speaks to your discipline and elegance. Sharp shoulders, razor-sharp lapels and precisely creased trousers are the name of the game.
2. You’re all about striking the perfect balance between structure and comfort. You appreciate a clean tailored look but gravitate towards more modern silhouettes – soft-shouldered jackets with relaxed pleated trousers and the like.
3. You like to mix and match silhouettes to make a statement. Sharply tailored blazer and wide-leg trousers? Bring it on, provided it doesn’t look silly. You use contrasts to amplify your individuality and avoid ever looking boring.

Question 4: Bold accessories or subtle touches?

1. For you, the devil is in the detail. Subtle touches, like sleek leather belts, understated cufflinks and a beautiful watch enhance a look without drawing too much attention. A classic silk tie in a muted tone or a pocket square folded neatly into a square is as bold as you’re willing to go. Oversized jewellery, brightly coloured pocket squares and pattern ties? Not for you. Accessories should complement, not dominate.
2. Context is everything. You prefer subtle accessories most of the time, but you’re not afraid to experiment with bold pieces when the occasion calls for it.
